Delhi - A Traveller's City



Delhi is the Official National Capital of India which is a country located in South Asia. India is the biggest country in South Asia and therefore dominates the region in almost all spheres be it military, trade or tourism.
Apart from comprising the Taj Mahal in Agra which is one of the Seven Wonders of the World, India has a number of other such marvels. Delhi appears to obtain a prime position as far as tourism industry is concerned. Apart from being this big and culture-rich country's capital, Delhi has multiple tourist hotspots that one can hope to enjoy. Spread over an area of 1,484 square kilometers, Delhi has a population of almost 5 crores.
The capital has a number of marvels and places of interest which includes the ancient ones like Agrasen ki Baoli near Connaught Place to modern marvels such as The Akshardham Temple near the Commonwealth games village close to Yamuna River. Delhi offers its visitors a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical bordering semi-arid, with high variations between summer and winter temperatures and precipitation. In short the weather is quite pleasant to travel and go places in winters and post summers.
Let us start the journey of Delhi in a sequential manner. The sightseeing locations in Delhi are:
1. Chattarpur Temple
One can visit the temple to offer prayers as well as take a look at the big statue of Lord Hanuman fixed on the opposite side of the temple.

2. Qutab Minar
Close to Chattarpur temple in Mehrauli is a great marvel built by Qutab-ud-din Aibak in 1193 which is 73 m long. Historians consider this marvel great because of certain developments and architectural advancements done in the 12th century.

3. Lotus Temple
In the South Delhi vicinity is another great white lotus flower shaped monument which is an outstanding place to visit. One can visit this place of worship and can be lost in the silence.

4. National Zoological Park
The Delhi Zoo is a 16th century citadel with plenty of greenery and animal varieties. It is situated close to the Old-fort.

5. India Gate
Almost everyone has heard of India Gate when it comes to Delhi. Located near central Delhi, India gate is a war memorial where a fire baton burns to remember our soldiers and martyrs. There is vast open space and a park around India gate which will completely refresh you.

6. Rajghat
After enjoying nature, you can pay your tributes to "The Father of The Nation" here in Rajghat. Built after Mahatma Gandhi's death in 1948, it consists of a fire baton which is always burning signifying the Mahatma's presence.

7. Jama Masjid
Jama Masjid is one of the largest mosques in India; it is famous for two things: Its structural size and the Biryani shops in the area.

8. The Red Fort
Visible from the Jama Masjid is a red colored fort which was part of Shahjahanabad, the city of Mughal leader Shahjahan. Red fort was at that time a city within a city. It was inside Shahjahanabad.

9. Laxminarayan Temple
In the central Delhi region lays a temple which is famous for a total mirrored room. It is a 3 floored temple opened in 1939.

10. Akshardham Temple
Situated in East Delhi is a modern-made temple which is quite big in size. The well maintained gardens are a treat to watch. Also, the three-show experience seems to be the heartthrob of the temple.

11. Humayun's Tomb
Humayun's tomb is a tomb of the Mughal emperor Humayun. It was commissioned by his wife Bega Begum in 1569-70 and designed by Mirak Mirza Ghiyas.
Location: Nizamuddin, Central-East Delhi
Nearest Metro: JLN stadium, Violet Line
Some other notable mentions include Hauz Khas Village, Agrasen Ki Baoli, Lodi Gardens, and Rashtrapati Bhawan. Visiting these places completes our trip of Delhi wherein one can enjoy multiple cultures and visit so many places.
The Delhi Tourism runs special buses that ply from Connaught Place at around 9 AM and tour the whole of Delhi with specific timings. Also, one can take the HO-HO (Hop-on-Hop-off) buses at any time any day which also runs to all the heritage and tourist spots.
India is a culturally rich place and Delhi seems to offer us exactly the same thing therefore one can get a major idea of what India is about if one visits Delhi.
